Mango & cauliflower smoothie with a turmeric twist

This smoothie is delicious. The inclusion of cauliflower adds in a good dose of pre-biotic power, it also includes turmeric. You can use fresh or powdered turmeric. Just remember to add a sprinkle of black pepper, as this is needed to activate the active ingredient curcumin in turmeric 

Ingredients

cup of fresh or frozen mango (can buy from frozen in the fridge section of the supermarket)
2-3 small florets of cauliflower
cup of milk or milk alternate
1/2 tsp of chopped turmeric or 1/2 tsp dried turmeric (made into a paste with a drop or two of water)
pinch of pepper
extra ice

Method

  1. Put all ingredients into a blender. Mix together at a high speed for 20-30 seconds
  2. Serve ice cold with a straw.

Nutrition per serve: Energy 230 kcal, 11.4g protein, 3.3g fat, 1.9g saturated,  35.6g low GI carbs, 6g fibre
