A diagnosis of cancer is something that has many impacts on your health and nutritional needs. This is why it is important to know how to tailor your diet to eat well and to help you cope, fight and manage side effects such as fatigue, appetite and weight changes (both losses and increases).
Jane Freeman, a knowledgeable and highly regarded cancer Dietitian (APD), who will arm you with the dietary know-how and the meal plan options that will energies you, and your immune system and help you with weight changes and other side effects. Jane has over 25 years experience, is a trained cook, was awarded a medical association prize for her book ‘How to Eat Well When You Have Cancer’ and wrote the first WCRF booklet on Eating well and staying active after cancer treatments.
Jane consults in person at the new Mater Hospital’s Centre for Well-Being in North Sydney or is happy to consult via a telehealth appointment.
Medicare rebates of $56.00 are available with an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan referral from your GP (5 sessions available). Health insurance rebates may also be available.

About Jane Freeman (APD)
Jane Freeman is an internationally regarded and credentialed cancer dietitian and nutritionist (APD, APN). She is also a Leith’s trained cook, an IOC (International Olympic Committee) qualified sports nutritionist and British Medical Association award-winning cancer book author.
She has worked out of leading hospitals and cancer clinics in Australia, London and Singapore, as well as consulted to the World Cancer Research Fund UK, Singapore Cancer Society and the Australian Cancer Council. She wrote the WCRF booklet on nutrition and activity after cancer treatment. She also wrote the nutrition section in the Cancer Councils booklet on radiotherapy.
Importantly Jane’s understands and assess every person as an individual. She reviews current medical and nutrition health parameters, actual dietary approaches and then will educate, clarify and advises on the dietary or supplement intake approaches more able to help.

In addition to the one-one nutrition consults, Jane runs regular food, nutrition and cooking workshops out of the new Kay Van Norton centre for wellbeing at the Mater Hospital in North Sydney. At the moment the sessions are being run virtually via zoom, but will start back once the COVID-19 coast is clear.
